Richard Aguirre is a third generation San Diego native. At the age of 14, Aguirre's father died and he watched his mother struggle to raise a family. Years later, he lost his mother to bone marrow cancer.
Losing both his parents before he was 40 years old became a pivotal point in Aguirre's life. He turned his mother's dream to make a better life for her children into his own dream of creating a better life for all Californians.
Aguirre graduated from UC Berkeley where he earned a B.S. in Geography on grants and student loans. He is a retired businessman and real estate investor with a passion for family, friends, music and sur?ng. An adamant environmentalist, he is the president of San Diego's “Save Sunset Cliffs,” and successfully stopped the commercialization and destruction of the cliffs.
